A Message for Congress

In March I will be traveling to Washington, D.C., to join other kidney advocates at the 5th Annual National Kidney Summit.  I am so excited about this opportunity!! We will be addressing Congressional members, sharing our patient, family, and living donor perspectives and urging them to support legislation for kidney care.

Do you know the number one question many chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients have?  Why didn’t someone tell me I had CKD before learning I had kidney failure?

H.R. 3867 is a bill in the House that helps primary care practitioners detect and treat CKD earlier which will lead to better patient outcomes and lower healthcare costs.  I will share more in the upcoming months, but this important effort affects us all; it impacts Medicare spending and impacts many of us who already have CKD but show no symptoms.    So would you email or tweet a message to your Representative asking him/her to co-sponsor H.R. 3867?  It is a very easy step to take;  just click on the links below and add your name.

Anyone who wants to join us at the Kidney Summit can find more information here.  There is power in uniting and getting behind causes that bring good to others.  Tell Congress: Support early diagnosis and treatment of CKD.
